Long-term energy service contracting to free up local public budgets
From September 28 to October 10, Medellín will become the first city in the Global South to host a Climate Week. The main agenda, organized by the Mayor’s Office in partnership with Impact Hub Medellín and Socya, will bring together more than 5,000 participants and 2,000 international delegates at the Botanical Garden. The event will open with a Mayors’ Summit and will feature a dedicated track on energy and transition.
POLEN TJ will be there. On September 30, from 8:00 to 10:00 a.m., we will participate in the forum Saving Energy, Investing in People: Long-term energy service contracting to free up local public budgets, an event organized together with the National University of Colombia and Emergente. We will discuss how long-term energy contracting can become a tool for public institutions to reduce their energy bills and free up resources that can be redirected toward the needs of their communities.
This topic is directly connected to our Renewable Electrification area, where we have been exploring how Colombia can accelerate a just energy transition through both technical and regulatory approaches. Part of this work is already available in our publications, including our technical roadmap for a reliable, clean, and lower-cost power system, as well as our regulatory glossary for a just energy transition.
