The Political Ecology of 100% Renewable Electricity in Colombia:

This publication analyzes the transition toward a 100% renewable electricity system in Colombia from a political ecology perspective. The document begins with the technical feasibility of achieving a renewable electricity matrix, but argues that the transition cannot be reduced to the deployment of solar, wind, or other renewable technologies. Based on a review of contributions from civil society organizations, it identifies key elements for making the transition just, territorial, participatory, and non-extractivist. It also proposes that the State promote negotiated transitions based on equity, access to energy, democratization, and respect for territories.
